What A Year!

Posted on: 17th Jul 2026

It's been an incredible year for our wonderful St Mary Magdalene Academy students. They have risen to meet every challenge with enthusiasm and kindness. They have shown incredible focus and resilience, enthusiastically thrown themselves into exciting extra-curricular opportunities, and excelled in drama, arts and sports.

Pictured below is our incredible recent production, 'The Talent Show Must Go On'. A fantastic cast of 60 performers – including our highest ever proportion of SEND students – gave us an evening of pure joy in a celebration of inclusivity, creativity and community.

Pictured second, our young athletes are also riding high this month. Last week's brilliant Sports Day was the icing on the cake after a year in which they won so many regional trophies – and our first EVER national trophy.

Pictured third, in one of our many trips this year, our Sixth Form Economic students visited the Bank of England where a highlight was lifting a surprisingly heavy solid gold bar! You can see more photos from our brilliant Sports Day 2026 on the link here.

Pictured fourth, this week students are enjoying another incredible Activities Week; learning new skills - from canoeing to clay-time – building their confidence, and having fun in the fresh air.

And pictured fifth, we wave a fond farewell to our Year 11 Class of 2026. The Leavers' Ball was a memorable celebration of their time at SMMA and the students certainly made the most of a magical evening river cruise with stunning views of the Thames, a beautiful sunset – and some impressive moves on the dance floor. We look forward to many of the students rejoining us in September.

From all at St Mary Magdalene Academy, we wish the very best of good luck to students who are awaiting exam results. And to our students, families, staff and community: thank you for all your support and hard work this year, we wish everyone a peaceful and happy summer.
