Year 7 Deloitte book club enjoys end of year rewards trip

20 July 2015

The Deloitte Year 7 book club members have been meeting in the library throughout the year to read and discuss a different novel each term.

Deloitte consultant Arti Kashyap skilfully led the group, kindly inviting us to visit her offices for an end of year rewards trip on Monday 6th July. The eight Deloitte book club members attended the trip for a tour of Deloitte and a final discussion of the last book of the year, Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. Two of the Year 7 book club members wrote up their thoughts of the day:

Alannah Makoni

‘This year a group of year 7s read a different book and answered questions about the book with Arti from Deloitte once every half term. On Monday 6th July, we met to discuss the final book of the year Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. However there was a twist. This time instead of Arti coming to us, we went to Deloitte. First, we had a pizza lunch and then had a great discussion about the books – it was interesting to see what the other people thought about the book. We ended the trip with a tour of the many Deloitte buildings.’

James Holingsworth

‘As a member of the Deloitte book club in year 7 we read the following books : Pig Heart Boy, Picture Me Gone and Wonder. Every half term we met up and discussed the books. Today we met with Arti from Deloitte. We sat in a very nice room. We also had lunch there, which was very tasty and then discussed the books. Afterwards we had a tour of the Deloitte Campus! There was not just one building, but loads! When we came back Arti gave us a goodie bag which contained an A4 journal, a reading book and lots of sweet goodies!’
