17 July 2015
On the 7th July the Academy Librarian Miss Wallace took a group of Year 12s on what has now become an annual trip to the excellent Senate House Library, part of the University of London.
This trip provided IB Diploma students an opportunity to access the university’s extensive library collections and carry out research for their Extended Essay project.
The students received a tour from one of the librarians, covering the four floors, and receiving an explanation of the classification system, library catalogue and labyrinth passage ways and stairwells connecting the various reading rooms and subject collections!
The students were also shown how to access the electronic journals and books collections – an invaluable resource for all who used it.
This trip provided the students with a real insight into a higher education library and access to a wide range of sources for their extended essays.
