The Lit Programme

The Lit Programme equips students with four ‘superskills’.

Through predicting, summarising, clarifying and questioning, our Year 7 pupils find ways to deconstruct and understand texts, helping them become good readers.

The programme mainly targets students who arrive at the school with SATs results below the ‘Secondary Ready’ level, or who have a low reading age.

The project is led by the Leading Teacher for Literacy, who runs an intervention scheme taking small groups of pupils out of mainstream foreign language lessons to develop their reading and comprehension skills.

The Lit Programme uses fiction and non-fiction resources which have been selected to appeal to pupils who struggle with literacy.
