Pupil Premium is a grant given to schools to provide academic support for children who are on free school meals. It applies if the pupil has received free school meals at any time in the past six years.
It is really important that all parents/carers of children who believe they are entitled to free school meals register for their eligibility.
Research has shown that children who are on free school meals do not do as well academically as other children in school. The government therefore provides this grant so that we can help each child with extra academic support.
The support can be in a short burst or over a longer period of time, such as a term, two terms, a year or more. It may take the form of one-to-one or small group teaching, and may be an evidence-based intervention. The support can be provided in the form of additional resources, enrichment or access to opportunities that enhance learning and or aspiration.
