We knew from the outset, when we opened our doors to the first cohort of Year 7 pupils in 2007 that we would offer an academic curriculum. All our pupils study for GCSE exams and in the Sixth Form we offer a full range of A Levels. There is a setting throughout the 11-16 years and entry to the Sixth Form is based on academic selection.
As a reflection of our firm commitment to academic excellence the Governors have decided to offer 18 places to Year 7 pupils and a further 18 places at Year 9. There is no catchment restriction for pupils applying for an aptitude place.
A Governors’ aptitude test information evening is held each year in the autumn term.
Places are awarded on performance in the test. The test is age sensitive and is designed to identify those students with the skills to perform well in English and in language acquisition. No knowledge of any language other than English is required.

Year 7 applicants will also need to complete the Pan London Secondary transfer form listing St Mary Magdalene Academy as a choice. These forms are returned to the LEA (local education authority).
