Sixth Form meet Jeremy Corbyn MP

19 October 2017

Excitement was running high in our Sixth Form last Friday, as our students got to hear and meet Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North and Leader of the Labour Party.

After a special Sixth Form assembly and discussion session, our guest made time to answer the students’ probing questions, which included:

‘Do you think the government should spend more money on education, and why?’

‘Under a Labour government after Brexit, how will the UK’s relationship with the EU change?’

‘What were the weaknesses in your Labour campaign?’

Jeremy also met with our Amnesty group, who presented him with their petitions; he responded by asking for their input into an upcoming speech. All our students were happy, inspired, and delighted that he even made time for their selfies!

In the words of Year 12’s Solomon Arouna, ‘It was an incredibly inspiring session, meeting the possible future Prime Minister. His demeanour alone had great influence, showing him as a figure who really does have the interest of the youth at his heart.’
