Deputy Head’s end of term letter

19 December 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to you at the end of what has been a successful and purposeful term for the Academy. The new year 7s have settled well into the school and the year 11s have completed their mock examinations in readiness for the New Year.

I thought to write to you regarding uniform expectations as I am mindful that the Christmas period lends itself to the purchasing of new items of clothing for pupils.

During this sustained period of inclement weather I would like to remind you of the Academy’s uniform expectations pertaining to outdoor jackets and coats, they must be: Plain navy or black overcoat (to be acceptable a logo which is no bigger than the Academy blazer badge).

In the same vein I would also like to remind all parents of the policy around trousers and shoes: Trousers must be grey or charcoal grey, NOT black. Shoes must be ‘proper’ school shoes such as those sold at Clarkes. Soft soled Kickers / Vans / Converse and other similar styles are not appropriate.

Finally I would also like to draw your attention to the Academy’s Equipment list, which can be found in your child’s planner or on the School’s website. May I also ask that you remind your child that a reading book is an integral part of the SMMA equipment list and they are expected to have this with them at all times.

I, along with the other members of the Expectations and Standards Staff, would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during this term and wish you a wonderful Christmas break.

Yours faithfully

Mr D Ajagbonna
