Activities and trips: It’s not all work!

We’ll do our very best to make sure you enjoy your time at St Mary Magdalene Academy. Students and staff alike will help you settle in and treat you like an adult. And we’ll offer you a host of amazing extra–curricular activities and opportunities.

You’ll start the year with a team-building trip around Central London, taking plenty of time to get to know your new colleagues and your own Sixth Form ‘guardian’.

The international environment has helped me make friends from all over the world - Vita Year 12

Your ‘guardian group’ will also include Year 13 students. In a special intro day, they’ll share their advice on getting the best from Sixth Form life – from organising your time, to having fun.

And you’ll make friends from all over the world. Last year alone, we had groups of visiting students from China, Switzerland and Denmark.

Then, there’s all the trips and opportunities! Our annual surfing week in Newquay is one of the highlights – see what the students say about it.

This is a great place to study because it’s so friendly. Everyone fits in and the teachers are great at guiding students in all aspects of academic life - Isabella Year 13

And there are many other extra–curricular trips and activities to try out. This year, students received a £500 grant to go walking in Holland (thanks to the Mark Evison Foundation), explored the mountains of Snowdonia, checked out the beaches and alleyways of old London Docklands, and much more.
