Years 11 to 13 students experience a kitchen masterclass

A taste of success

Executive Head Chef of Deloitte, Adam Thomason, recently treated our students to a taste of success in a masterclass and workshop with a difference.

Adam brought special guests too: an award–winning pastry chef and an experienced sommelier. Together, they met with 59 of our catering students. First, they gave our students the lowdown on a range of catering careers and debated the best routes to success – whether it’s university, apprenticeship or practical experience.

Then it was time to roll up their white sleeves and get hands-on! Seventeen lucky students from Years 11 to 13 were treated to a two-hour practical workshop with the professionals – from frying the crispest fish, to plating up a beautiful dish, and swirling the most impressive icing.

And of course, they all got to enjoy the delicious results!
