1 March 2017
As part of our Unit of Inquiry studying World Religions we will be visiting BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Hindu temple) in Neasden on Monday 6 March.
During this visit the children will get the opportunity to see inside this amazing temple with its sacred shrines. We will be given a talk about Hinduism and will have the opportunity to look around the ‘Understanding Hinduism’ exhibition as well as view a Hindu ceremony. As visitors to the Hindu mandir we are required to abide by the following rules and regulations:
Please note that a strict dress code operates within the complex. Leg-wear (i.e. shorts and skirts/dresses) must be at least below knee-length. Shoulders and arms should also be covered up.
It is customary to remove footwear upon entering the mandir and there are shoe racks provided within the complex.
Please ensure your child comes to school on this day with a packed lunch. To adhere to Hindu beliefs please ensure that your packed lunch does not contain meat or animal products, fish or eggs. If your child would like a school packed lunch, please indicate on the attached reply slip.
We will be taking the underground from Highbury & Islington station to Euston and from there we will take the overground train to Stonebridge Park station. From there we shall walk approximately 15 minutes to the mandir. We plan to leave the Academy at approximately 9.00am and we will be returning to the Academy by the end of the school day.
Additionally there is a charge of £2.00 per child for entrance to the exhibition. All payments to be made on ParentPay.
Your child will need to wear school uniform (adhering to the temple’s dress code rules), please ensure that they have suitable clothes for the weather on the day (waterproof if it is wet). If you would like to come and help with the trip please indicate below.
