Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to the second half of the spring term – I do hope you had an enjoyable half-term break with your children.
The Academy Chapel
As you will probably know, usually the children attend St Mary Magdalene Church with their class once each half-term for a service which is lead by Greg Wynn, the Academy Chaplain. This coming half-term, the children will be visiting the Academy Chapel instead. This will enable them to see and experience the Chapel as a place of quite reflection and worship. Our quote of the week for this week comes from the philosopher and theologian St Augustine of Hippo: We do not come to God by navigation but by love. These words can be seen outside our Chapel.
Shakespeare’s Macbeth – Thursday 18 March
The staff and children are continuing to work hard on our productions of Macbeth this term. The performances will be on Thursday 18 March. Details about how to obtain tickets and times of performances will be sent to you in a separate letter. Both the dance performances and the performances of the play are repeated during the day to help ensure that you will be able to attend and watch your child.
International Performance Evening – Thursday 11 March
The annual Academy International Performance Evening will be held on Thursday 11 March. Details about this event and how you can obtain tickets will be given to your children on Monday.
Contacting staff
A reminder that teachers are available in the playground at the beginning and end of the school day; this is an ideal opportunity for you to have a quick chat with the staff working in your child’s class. If you would like a longer conversion, please contact Donna in the Primary office where an appointment can be made.
Monday after-school clubs
On Monday 1 March, Cookery Club and Board games will not be running. This is due to staff attending cluster meetings with teachers from other schools. Gymnastics and Football will run as normal on that day.
Travelling Bookfair
The travelling bookfair is with us once again. This is an ideal opportunity for you to buy quality books for your child. The bookfair is open after school in the Primary Hall today, and on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Yours sincerely
