Dear Parents/Carers
Coffee Mornings
This Tuesday 9 February from 9am until 10.15am we will be holding the third of our Coffee Mornings for this term. Ellen Webster, our Foundation Stage Leading Teacher, will be attending the meeting to discuss how children learn in the Early Years. This will be of particular interest to all of our Reception Parents and Carers as well as any Parents and Carers with even younger children. All Parents and Carers are very welcome – please do come along if you can.
Parenting Group
After half-term we are beginning a series of parenting workshops in partnership with Coram Islington Parenting Support Services. The workshops will provide practical advice, information and support on issues such as keeping your child safe and anger management. The workshops will be run by a specialist team of support workers from Coram Islington Parenting Support Services. They will begin on Tuesday 23 February and will run on the following three Tuesdays. They will take place in the Lecture Theatre of the Academy (please use the Liverpool Road entrance) between 9.15am and 10.30am. All Parents and Carers are very welcome to attend any of the sessions – further details will follow next week.
Easter Holiday 2010
Apologies to any Parents and Carers who have children in other Islington schools regarding Easter school holiday dates. Last year we set and published our school holiday dates as early as we could in line with Islington’s original proposals. Islington subsequently changed their dates which is why there is a difference.
MLK
The Martin Luther King Centre, where a lot of our children attend after school, is running a holiday programme during half-term week – 15 – 19 February 2010. As well as general activities, there are a number of special activities happening each day. Bookings can be made in advance. For further information please contact the centre directly on 0207 607 0845 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Family Learning Workshop – Saturday 13 February
Central Library in Fieldway Crescent is holding a Family Learning Workshop on Saturday 13 February from 10.30am – 1pm for children aged 6 – 12 years and their Parents and Carers. To book a place telephone 0207 527 7002.
Quote of the Week
This week the children have been learning about Chinese New Year and our quote of the week comes from the Chinese philosopher and reformer (551-479 BC) Confucius: “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”
Yours sincerely
