Primary newsletter
Friday 22 January 2010
Dear Parents and Carers,
Coffee Morning – Tuesday 26 January
On Tuesday 26 January from 9am until 10.15am we will be holding the second of our coffee mornings for this term in the Primary Library. Deborah Shepherd, the Deputy Head of Primary, will be attending this event and will be available to discuss with you any concerns or questions you may have regarding both the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (this is the themed based curriculum that we follow) and our provision for children who have been identified as being more able in different areas of the curriculum. Do come along if you can as it is also a good opportunity to meet other parents.
School Uniform Shop closure on Thursday 28 January
The Academy Uniform Shop will be closed on Thursday 28 January – this is due to staff training. The Uniform Shop will re-open as usual on Monday 1 February.
Year 5 and Y6 School Journey Payment
A reminder that payments for both Sayers Croft and Hothorpe Hall can be made weekly in order to avoid paying a large amount nearer to the time.
Residents Day – Saturday 23 January 11am – 2pm
A Residents Day is being held at the Ringcross Community Centre on Saturday 23 January 11am – 2pm to which families in the local area are invited. Events will include: a graffiti art project, plant potting, arts and crafts and international food.
Scholastic Book Club
Any order for the Scholastic Book Club need to be returned to Donna by Friday 5 February.
Quote of the week
Our quote for this week comes from Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian politician and spiritual leader (1869-1948): “Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” In assembly this week this quote helped us when we reflected on the Risk-taker attribute of the Learner Profile.
Haiti
Thank you to everyone for your support in raising much needed funds for Haiti both in terms of the cake sale donations and cash donations. I will let you know in my next newsletter the final sum that was raised.
Yours sincerely
Joy Parke
Head of Primary
