Friends of St Mary Magdalene Academy

The Friends started as a parent initiative to help support the school. We raise money to assist the Academy in various ways. For example, this year all the Primary classes and the Breakfast Club received £100 to purchase new “wet play games”.

Are you a new parent to the Academy? We provide a social network for parents to meet together and get to know each other. We help at school functions and assist where we can, drawing on a pool of skills that we have among us, as well as putting on our own events – for example, the Summer Fair. You could be involved by donating unwanted gifts for our raffle and tombola, or run a stall at the fair.

Can’t come to meetings? Why not help us by baking cakes for our seasonal or class cake sales?

We always welcome new parents and carers to join forces with us. By having a child at the Academy, you automatically become a Friend of St Mary Magdalene Academy.

We meet as a committee regularly at the Academy. We have four officers: chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. At our AGM, we choose the people serving in these roles.

If you want to get in contact with us you can email us or leave your name and contact details in the Primary or Secondary reception, and we will get in touch with you. We are hoping to send out regular emails to parents about events planned and meeting times. This is one way of keeping up to date with what is happening if you are working and cannot attend in person.

We are in particular looking for someone to audit our accounts and to help us with secretarial and admin skills.

We’re looking forward to meeting you and hearing your ideas.

Yours sincerely
