Saskia cycles to Paris

8 June 2017

Huge congratulations to Year 7’s Saskia, who has just completed an awe-inspiring charity cycle ride together with her younger brother Alfie. Saskia rode all the way from London to Paris – 432km over just four days – to raise money for Cancer Research.

Before her trip, Saskia said, ‘I feel nervous because I know what a big thing it is to do, but I’m trying to keep that out of my mind and concentrate on how happy I will feel when I see the Eiffel Tower.’

The two conquered poor weather and tiredness along the way, and even saved the energy to end their challenge in style with a sprint finish beneath the Eiffel Tower!

As Saskia explains, ‘It was really hard at times and sometimes I wanted to stop but I did this in memory of my granny who died in November, and when I got to the Eiffel Tower it was amazing. Granny was a daredevil and loved challenging herself to do more, and when I got to Paris I thought about her a lot. She inspires me.’

Saskia and Alfie now become the youngest-known girl and boy to have cycled from London to Paris the full way via Dover. What a fantastic achievement!
